I always struggled with weight loss. I was only thin as a child when I was growing taller. After my growth spurt I gained weight. As an adult I ballooned to 285. It was not fun. I was tired all the time, and didn't want to do anything except eat.
I look around and often see thin, muscular people promoting their diet and exercise programs. Did they ever go through what I went through being overweight? Did they struggle with weight loss diets and fail over and over again? Sometimes you have to go through it to understand the real reason diets and exercise don't work for some people. If you have never been heavy it is more difficult to understand the feelings of frustration of being overweight.

As a teenager, my mom told me I needed to watch my weight because I was getting “chunky.” Her best friend’s three children were fat! She didn’t want her daughter to be fat. I interpreted this as I was unattractive. I hated to look at myself in the mirror or even in photos.
Many years of yo-yo dieting ensured to try to keep those pounds off. I felt like I starved myself to lose 10 pounds but gained it all back and then some. I managed to barely maintain my weight because I had to run and work out to meet fitness criteria for my law enforcement job and Army reserve service.
The pounds started creeping up when I started rotating shift work. Then after I married, I became pregnant and put on over 80 extra pounds. I tried diet after diet and lost and regained pounds. My husband and I did the low carb diet 2 or 3 times. We both lost weight. I felt starved, deprived, pudgy, and unattractive. But it was so difficult to lose the weight and seemingly impossible to keep it off.
Then my son introduced me to hypnosis and the power of the unconscious mind. It could help with weight loss, pain, and so much more. I took the class and wanted to know more. For I was already working a very full time job, so I didn’t make effective use of my knowledge. I went back to school to study Transpersonal Psychology and the unconscious mind. After three years earned my master’s degree and 30 extra pounds of extra unwanted weight!
I began working with hypnosis for clients who also wanted to lose weight. Here I was at almost 190 pounds. I thought, “Who am I to tell you how to lose weight?” I felt shame and felt I lacked authenticity. If I am going to help others, I need to help myself!
As I worked with clients for many issues, including weight reduction, I discovered that being over-weight was sort of collateral damage – a symptom and result of emotional trauma or distress, an internal battle for self-preservation or self-protection. Each person has their own individual reasons for gaining the weight they now wanted to lose.
I used these techniques on myself and reduced my own weight. For the first time in over 30 years – I am no longer overweight!
I studied hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, obtained my master’s degree, and PhD and trained for a whole new career. I’ve been helping people to lose weight with hypnosis since 2010. I have the personal experience of reducing my weigh, keeping it off, and teaching others how they too can drop unwanted pounds and keep them off!
